About The Position

The position involves performing a variety of mechanical engineering assignments to support project development, design, operations, installation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems at the Kennedy Space Center. This includes working at various locations throughout the site, including space flight hardware processing facilities, launch pad support buildings, and other industrial support facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related scientific field with 10+ years of job-related experience, or a Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience.
  • Preferred to have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering test.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (e.g., CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation).
  • Working knowledge of PLC control logic diagrams preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of Modbus protocol.
  • Troubleshooting skills for control circuits.
  • Ability to review and understand PLC software code for HVAC equipment control.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems such as Andover, LoNworks, Honeywell, Johnson Metasys, Carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks without supervision.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to mechanical engineering.
  • Provide onsite technical guidance for new or existing equipment installation and modifications.
  • Revise and add new asset information in Maximo database for assigned equipment.
  • Develop and maintain job plans and preventive maintenance schedules for assigned equipment.
  • Conduct site visits to investigate system problems and propose solutions.
  • Support shop technicians in troubleshooting issues related to assigned equipment.
  • Prepare and review Technical Anomaly reports and presentations.
  • Develop and present mission-related presentations to NASA and/or EGS customers.
  • Coordinate and work closely with various stakeholders to define system specifications and requirements.
  • Support development of technical proposals and statements of work.
  • Communicate effectively with CAD drafters, Design Engineers, or shop personnel.
