About The Position

Mechanical Systems Engineer - Associate Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer (Associate) to join our 787 Mechanical Systems (Environmental Control Systems, Hydraulics, Flight Deck Design, & Flight Controls) Design Engineering team located in North Charleston, South Carolina. The Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer will support the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design of one of the four listed systems (ECS, Hydraulics, Flight Deck Design, Flight Controls) for the 787 Program in a sustaining production environment. Project examples include addressing design obsolescence, developing product improvements, supporting production build and test, supporting new customer introduction, and supporting the in-service fleet.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.
  • 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment.
  • Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system designs/proposals to provide design documentation and high-level requirements to downstream users/customers.
  • Performs detail design development and modification of mechanical and fluid system installations.
  • Performs spatial integration at system or component level and modification of mechanisms/landing gear/ordinance systems.
  • Assists in preparing technical documents for mechanical components and systems.
  • Assists in supporting proposal preparation and new business development efforts.
  • Works under general supervision.
