About The Position

Mechanical System and Design Analysis Engineer (Associate or Experienced) Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Commercial Airplanes Mechanical Systems Team is looking for a Mechanical System and Design Analysis Engineer (Associate or Experienced) in Everett, WA. This Individual will work within the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Environmental Control Systems team to develop, produce, deliver, and support customers who fly Boeing airplanes. They will enable high aircraft performance while operating in compliance with regulatory (FAA, EASA, etc.) requirements. We are seeking an engineer to join the NGS core team supporting production. This is a production-facing role that requires Environmental Control System (ECS) domain knowledge, practical experience with aircraft nitrogen generation equipment, and the ability to work closely with production, suppliers, and customers to ensure timely, safe, and certified delivery of NGS hardware and integration. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate or Experienced Level Engineers. Position Responsibilities: Supplier Change Notifications (Change Management). In-Service Issue Troubleshooting and Reliability Improvement Projects. Factory and Airplane Delivery Center Support. System Safety Analysis Documentation, including the creation of Fault Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs). Requirements Traceability & Development Assurance. Lab & Flight Test Support. Build Airplane Support Manuals, such as Fault Isolation Manual (FIM) and Component Maintenance Manual (CMM), Design Guides (DG). Interfacing with intra-Boeing engineering teams, such as Flight Deck Crew Operations, Pilots, Electrical Systems, Stress, Structures, Propulsion and Aerodynamics. Occasional domestic and international travel is required, not to exceed 10% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences) or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • 2+ or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ Years leading, coaching and mentoring a team of Engineers.
  • Ability to communicate concise and clearly to leadership on progress and help needed.
  • Ability to manage priorities and provide concise daily direction to a team of Engineers.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong working together principles.
  • 2+ years of background in Airplane Systems, with an understanding of and experience in analysis, systems architecting, certification, and equipment management.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior equipment manager or production-facing owner experience for avionics/ECS/aircraft equipment preferred.
  • Direct hands-on experience with Nitrogen Generation Systems (PSA, membrane, or equivalent) used in aviation applications.
  • 5+ years of knowledge of ECS disciplines: air distribution, cabin pressure control, equipment cooling, thermal management, and related fluid/thermodynamic principles.
  • Experience creating and maintaining FHAs, FMEAs, and FTAs for aircraft systems.
  • Familiarity with Boeing design, certification processes, and supplier quality assurance.
  • Experience leading small teams or technical leads on production/support tasks.
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Willingness to learn adjacent technical areas and participate in continuous improvement to improve production flow and aircraft readiness.
