About The Position

Experienced in component selection of HVAC equipment. Create updated / new designs for release for production HVAC equipment features and determine the specifications for each component. Collaborates with sustaining designers and engineers to ensure that product designs integrate seamlessly with other systems. Provides design guidance and oversight to mechanical designers, enabling them to complete optimized designs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and 5 years' industry experience
Associate's degree and 10 years' industry experience
Demonstrates strong Mechanical Engineering and design skills
Ability to lead projects, including conceptual designs, make design recommendations, and mentor junior Design Engineers
Creativity and innovation to implement new ideas and technologies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills
Understands safety standards including but not limited to UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA
Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills
Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Responsibilities

Develops new or modifies current equipment selections
Creates new designs to support customer specials and develops the specifications for each new component
Coordinates with engineering and others to deviate/approve part shortages
Supports DFMEAs, PFMEAs, CFD, FEA, and seismic evaluations and testing
Stays up to date with local and national design codes and regulations to ensure that designs meet safety standards including but not limited to UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA
Collaborates with designers and engineers to ensure that the product designs integrate seamlessly with other systems
Provides design guidance and oversight to assigned mechanical designers for specific projects enabling them to release optimized designs
Tests and troubleshoots designs products to ensure they are functioning properly and are safe for use
Works with engineering and operations to implement engineering change notices (ECN)
Provides support to production team to facilitate seamless product and feature releases
Collaborate with the Product Design Engineering team to develop designs
Creates cost estimates for the special request including cost of material and labor.
Produce software change requests for selection tool and test the results
Reviews product specifications for designs and makes design recommendations
Develops bill of materials (BOM) and translation documents related to new or changed designs
Prepares product documentation, operating instructions, and reviews related technical literature
Reviews Mechanical CAD modeling and simulations
Maintains and builds professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional societies
Travels, when necessary, in support of business needs
