Join us and make YOUR mark on the World! Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has turned bold ideas into world-changing impact advancing science and technology to strengthen U.S. security and promote global stability. Our mission spans four critical national security areas nuclear deterrence, threat preparedness, energy security, and multi-domain defense empowering teams to take on the toughest challenges of today and tomorrow. With a culture built on innovation and operational excellence, LLNL is a place where your expertise can make a real impact. We have multiple openings for Mechanical/Structural Engineering Analysts with a strong background in solid mechanics and finite element analysis (FEA) to support Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) stockpile programs. In this role, you will perform computational modeling and simulation using advanced, nonlinear finite element analysis codes developed at LLNL to evaluate structural and material responses to combined thermal, quasi-static or dynamic, and hydrodynamic loads under time-dependent kinematic conditions. You will contribute to research and development in advanced simulation capabilities, including constitutive modeling, Simulation Process and Data Management (SPDM), as well as Verification, Validation, and Uncertainty Quantification. Your work will support engineering design, testing, and certification of the nation’s nuclear weapon systems through both advanced development and practical design and assessment initiatives. These positions will be in the Weapon Analysis and Methods (WAM) section within the Computational Engineering Division (CED) of the Engineering Directorate. These positions will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team.
