About The Position

We are seeking a Mechanical Start-Up Technician to support mission-critical construction projects across the Southeast, including the St. Mary's, GA and Jacksonville, FL regions. This role is embedded within our Mechanical team and will travel between active job sites to lead equipment start-up activities and support commissioning efforts on federal projects. In this position, you'll be hands-on with newly installed mechanical systems-verifying installation quality, executing start-up procedures, and ensuring systems are fully operational and compliant with manufacturer requirements and project specifications. Your work directly impacts system performance, project turnover timelines, and overall mission readiness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; HVAC trade school training or equivalent experience is a plus
  • Minimum of four (4) years of mechanical field experience, with strong emphasis on HVAC service or maintenance
  • Experience on federal, military, or large-scale commercial construction projects preferred
  • EPA-608 certification preferred
  • CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 certifications required (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • All candidates considered for hire must provide evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at the time of hire.
  • Additionally, all candidates must successfully pass a drug screening and commercial criminal background check, including a stricter Department of Defense background check, for access to job site at military base (if applicable for position being hired for).

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC trade school training or equivalent experience is a plus
  • Experience on federal, military, or large-scale commercial construction projects preferred
  • Factory start-up certifications are a plus
  • EPA-608 certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform start-up and initial operation of HVAC and mechanical systems on active construction sites
  • Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and commissioning agents to validate system readiness
  • Troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions during start-up
  • Ensure all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and contract requirements
  • Assist in documentation, reporting, and commissioning support activities
