About The Position

You provide high-level technical oversight for all things mechanical (HVAC, piping, fuel, and water systems). Your goal is to catch technical errors in drawings, oversee complex "first-of-a-kind" equipment installs, and ensure the building’s "veins and lungs" are installed exactly as designed.

Requirements

  • Driver’s License Requirement: For roles that require on-site presence or travel between work locations as an essential function of the position, candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license appropriate for the role and be eligible to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a professional work environment, including preparing written reports and documentation, conveying information clearly to team members, clients, and stakeholders, and responding appropriately to verbal and written communications related to job duties.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Gatekeeper: Reviewing Submittals and RFIs for technical accuracy before they even reach the Lead Engineer (EoR).
  • Checking shop drawings and Revit models to ensure pipes and ducts aren't clashing and that there is enough room for maintenance crews to reach valves later.
  • Acting as the "technical brain" for troubleshooting on-site.
  • Overseeing critical "flush and fill" procedures (cleaning out the piping systems) and pressure testing to ensure no leaks.
  • Verifying "First of a Kind" (FOAK) installations to set the quality standard for the rest of the project.
  • Working alongside the commissioning firm to troubleshoot issues when equipment doesn't start up or perform as expected.
  • Reviewing "Test and Balance" (TAB) reports to confirm the airflow and water pressure meet the design specs.
  • Walking the site to ensure the installation matches the "Product Installation Instructions."
  • Using BIM 360 to track, document, and resolve field issues.
  • Systems: Process Water (PCW), Chilled Water, Air Handlers, and Fuel Oil systems.
  • Reviewing fuel deliveries (Bills of Lading) and testing fuel quality before it goes into the backup generators.
  • Reviewing "Method of Procedures" (the step-by-step instructions for high-risk work) to ensure they are safe and won't crash the system.
