About The Position

At our Cascades Bear Island facility in Ashland, VA you can develop your full potential, sustainably, by applying your expertise within the Packaging sector as the Mechanical Project Leader. Provide engineering support for troubleshooting mechanical issues, transitioning into project leadership once root causes are identified. Lead and manage concurrent mechanical projects from planning through execution within our papermill. Develop and maintain project plans, including the creation of work orders and scheduling using planning tools. Oversee vendor engagement, including obtaining and evaluating quotations. Ensure timely execution of projects, with a strong focus on post-RCA (Root Cause Analysis) implementation and priority setting. Review and update predictive maintenance plans in collaboration with maintenance teams in the CMMS (SAP). Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure project alignment with operational goals. Maintain a high standard of safety, quality, and efficiency throughout all project phases. Continuously improve established maintenance processes including Defect Handling and Breakdown Elimination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a maintenance, reliability and or engineering technician leading projects in an industrial setting.
  • Proficient in utilizing a CMMS to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills to interpret, evaluate and analyze facts and information.
  • Ability to overcome ambiguous and complex situations with an open mind.
  • Proficiency in project planning tools, such as MS Project.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • Experience and understanding of Lean Production System principles.
