About The Position

Fori Automation, a Lincoln Electric Company, has an outstanding opportunity for a Mechanical Project Engineer based at our Shelby Twp, MI location. The Mechanical Project Engineer plays a key role within our engineering team, and will collaborate with various engineering functions, field service personnel and customers regarding design, tooling, layout and other aspects of the product design process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineer or related field OR 10+ years of equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in mechanical design
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
  • Familiarity with NAAMS components
  • Working knowledge of GD&T required
  • Ability to take the Mechanical Engineering Lead on a project

Nice To Haves

  • Autodesk Vault experience preferred
  • ERP system experience preferred
  • US Passport preferred, with 10% travel capability to Canada

Responsibilities

  • Create the job log (unit list) for each project.
  • Complete controls line up documents as required.
  • Control model and drawing levels within Autodesk Vault system.
  • Complete mechanical releases (for purchase or manufacture) per the project schedule.
  • Mechanical Project Engineers shall be able to properly design all aspects of an assembly system including tooling, motions and transfers, and stations layouts.
  • Specify mechanical components and sizing information when required.
  • Coordinate with other Project Engineers regarding schedule, design concepts and other status information on areas of concern.
  • Coordinate with Fori process engineers for process and layout development.
  • Ensure that designs are consistent on the project.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews of deliverables.
  • Meet with customer, and discuss design related issues to resolution
  • Ensure that all designs meet either Fori or customer standards.
  • Fully document and maintain engineering records for incorporation into engineer’s job book.
  • Complete or oversee mechanical project deliverables including ergonomic/reach studies, clamp plans, design FMEA, Poke-Yoke reviews, engineering change evaluations, spare parts lists, final drawing packages, etc.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing and field service departments.
  • Ability to work closely with the Project Manager and Controls Project Engineer on all aspects of the project.
