About The Position

CPH is a multi-disciplined Engineering and Architectural design firm that ranks in the nation’s Top 500 Design Firms by ENR Magazine. CPH has an opening in our Sanford, FL location for the following position: Mechanical Engineer - EIT with 2+ years of experience in commercial and industrial design. This position may be eligible for hybrid flexibility. The Mechanical Engineer designs, develops, and implements mechanical systems. This role includes HVAC load calculations, energy compliance calculation and building code compliance. The Mechanical Engineer works with project managers and teams to create design documents, including reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, and collaborates effectively with internal and external clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Passage of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam or ability to do so within 6 months.
  • 2 years of mechanical engineering and design experience, including HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Boilers, Chillers, and Central Heating (CH) systems.
  • Project experience in designing Mechanical/HVAC systems for various industries.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, energy/load simulation software, and Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in mechanical design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, Trace700, ComCheck, Energy Gauge, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems, components, design principles, and codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering data.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook and familiarity with Deltek Vision and Smartsheet or similar software’s platforms.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise critical thinking and good independent judgement.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work on multiple projects while adhering to project schedules and budgets.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
  • Detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical and plumbing systems alongside senior engineers.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and document system configurations and design methodologies.
  • Create mechanical design drawings, installation procedures, and engineering reports.
  • Assist in the evaluation of designs to meet operational and cost-effectiveness goals.
  • Work closely with project managers and mechanical leadership to produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Support cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment on project objectives and timelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
