About The Position

The Mechanical Plumbing Technician will provide assembly, integration, and test in support of the development of cutting-edge laser and electro-optical systems. All applicants must possess or be qualified to obtain a U.S. DoD Personnel Security Clearance. Preference will be given to candidates with an existing U.S. DoD Personnel Security Clearance. Requirements

  • Experience with NPT, BSPP, compression, and o-ring seals for water or gases required.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and at times stressful environment and maintain composure and good working relationships under stress. Requirements change frequently and rapid-turn solutions must be developed frequently.
  • Competence in maintaining cleanliness standards and operation in a clean room environment.
  • Comfortable working with wide range of basic shop equipment including the use of hand and power tools to complete mechanical assemblies specified by prints, schematics, and BOMS.
  • Positive attitude, strong mechanical aptitude, problem solving and troubleshooting skills and a willingness to develop creative solutions to time- sensitive problems.
  • Familiarity with safe operation of mechanical systems; operate with a safety-first mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Bending of stainless steel tubing and preparation of quick disconnect tubing runs is highly desired.
  • Experience with Chillers, pumps, and industrial filtration is highly desired.
  • Experience working with high power laser systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage schedule and priorities with moderate daily direction to meet schedule objectives.
  • Material handling to include receipt and inspection of components.
  • Installation and integration of mechanical cooling systems (combination of COTS & custom mechanics).
  • Operate hand and power tools to complete mechanical assemblies specified by prints, schematics, and BOMS.
  • Prepare and assemble plumbing components for pressure testing and various chiller systems.
  • General fluid system maintenance, reconfiguration, and analysis.
  • Changing filters, replacing components like pumps and fittings as needed.
