About The Position

As a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer in the Supply Chain Organization at Google, you will play a crucial role in providing manufacturing support and guidance for Google's packaging and electro-mechanical products. Your primary responsibility will be to identify and qualify advanced manufacturing techniques, as well as to provide Design for Excellence (DFX) feedback. This position is integral to ensuring that the manufacturing processes align with Google's high standards for quality and efficiency. The Technical Infrastructure team, which you will be a part of, is responsible for the architecture that keeps Google's online services running smoothly. This includes developing and maintaining data centers and building the next generation of Google platforms. The team prides itself on being the engineers' engineers, often taking apart systems to understand them better and improve their functionality. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining the networks that provide users with the best and fastest experience possible. In this role, you will be expected to perform design for manufacturability and assembly, as well as conduct design for cost analyses for various components, including sheet metal, plastic injection molded parts, and electro-mechanical assemblies. You will also be responsible for identifying and qualifying contract manufacturers and vendors for precision sheet metal, high-volume metal stamping, and plastic injection molding.
