AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Manager to join our Minneapolis office and be part our international engineering practice. This individual will design HVAC for laboratories, clean rooms, healthcare, and high-tech clients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing custom solutions for unique projects, mentoring a team, interacting with clients, and developing calculations, construction drawings, design reports, and specifications to support mechanical, fire protection and plumbing systems in accordance with building codes.   • The Senior Mechanical Engineer should be capable of full responsibility for executing complex technical projects with a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external clients is required.
  • Candidate must be well organized, be able to demonstrate critical thinking to quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution.
  • Have knowledge of the ASHRAE standards, NFPA, ICC codes, MasterSpecs.
  • Have experience with analysis and layout of Plumbing and HVAC systems, hydronic piping, medical gas, air distribution and associated products and materials.
  • Perform various management and leadership functions: Serve as technical advisor for team; business development; staff management and development; develop proposals, fees and schedules; client outreach; talent recruitment.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
  • Provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior engineers.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and minimum 8 years' experience in direct design of HVAC systems.or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Healthcare facility, Laboratory, or other complex HVAC and plumbing design experience
  • Thorough working knowledge of relevant engineering software: REVIT, CAD, load calculation software, Excel
  • Construction phase experience: submittal reviews, on-site inspections, RFIs, change orders, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and minimum 15 years' experience in direct design of HVAC systems.or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience preparing proposals, project budgets and work plans.
  • Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project or others.
