About The Position

The position involves entry-level skills for the operation and maintenance of HVAC, Boiler, and mechanical equipment and systems at the University of Texas at San Antonio. The role is essential for ensuring the performance, operation, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related systems, contributing to the overall functionality of the university's facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must have or obtain an EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • One (1) year of experience related to the statement of duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to use the tools of the mechanical trade, including the use of power machinery and hand tools.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English, and perform basic arithmetic.

Nice To Haves

  • Supplemental vocational school training and/or one year of experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience related to the statement of duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the installation, removal, repair, maintenance, preventive maintenance, fabrication, and emergency repair of HVAC, boiler, and industrial mechanical equipment and related systems.
  • Performs service calls and work orders submitted by students, faculty, staff, and departments within the university to include preventive maintenance.
  • Responds to customer service needs and requests in a timely manner with proper documentation of repairs and services.
  • Keeps records of the material used.
  • Assists all trades, departments, and zones with special events and assists when needed.
  • Assists outside contractors on HVAC and mechanical equipment and systems pertaining to remodeling, repairing, or replacing equipment.
  • Tests, monitors, minor troubleshooting, adjust and repair systems and equipment.
  • Checks mechanical spaces on regular intervals, corrects deficiencies, and assists in other trade areas in a team environment.
  • Assists with work on kitchen equipment as required.
  • Works on energized systems including piping that contains steam, hot, and chilled water.
  • Performs work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Keeps current on changes in operation procedures, new equipment, and other related equipment; works in conjunction with other trades and staff personnel in support of daily job tasks; informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies and takes appropriate actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $49,231 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
  • Full-time position with up to 40 hours per week.
