About The Position

This role would be responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance activities for the site and other plant equipment, as required. Responsibilities include preparation of safety reports required for internal use and MSHA reporting, ensuring effective employee relations, managing departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), scheduling and managing time sheets, managing department maintenance priorities, attending daily/weekly planning and scheduling meetings, performing equipment inspections, ensuring preventive maintenance tasks are performed in a quality and timely fashion, generating purchase requisitions for maintenance spare parts, and being available to assist operations in unscheduled plant down-time assistance 24 hours/7 days a week.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineering or several years of practical experience in Mechanical Maintenance plus previous supervisory experience.
  • Supervision and maintenance skills, including developing, mentoring, and disciplining hourly employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead hourly employees and achieve results through others.
  • Ability to think ahead and plan over a specific time span and prepare action plans to achieve results.
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in safety, quality, productivity, environmental compliance, cost efficiency, and employee relations in a unionized environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and assume assigned work in other jobs in case of employee absences or emergencies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct, and coordinate preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Prepare safety reports for internal use and MSHA reporting.
  • Ensure effective employee relations and provide coaching and development.
  • Manage departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provide regular progress reports to management.
  • Schedule and manage time sheets.
  • Manage department maintenance priorities.
  • Attend daily/weekly planning and scheduling meetings.
  • Perform equipment inspections and participate in overhaul decisions.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are performed in a quality and timely fashion.
  • Generate purchase requisitions for maintenance spare parts as needed.
  • Provide call-out coverage on off shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Assist operations in unscheduled plant down-time assistance 24/7.
