About The Position

The Mechanical Maintenance Manager (MMR) supervises and coordinates the Mechanical, Reliability, and Electrical sections. This position ensures assurance of all relevant parts availability, outside services availability, job scheduling and setup, removal and/or installation, and maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and associated components. The position directs the mechanical section of the maintenance department. The position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the mechanical functions, including inputs to the planning function, inputs to the store MRO function, critical parts designation, and training of mechanical supervision and technicians to increase planned and preventative work while decreasing reactive mechanical maintenance work. The expected end result is that overall equipment availability related to all manner of mechanical performance is enhanced. The MMR causes the development of preventative maintenance work and evaluates results, including equipment reliability, to improve efficiency. The MMR will establish and maintain close collaboration with parts/services suppliers, outside third-party technical services, internal technical resources across the platform, and internal and external networks to identify best practices and benchmark results to drive goal setting and achieving. Close and intimate cooperation and collaboration with all other departments within Opco are required to implement cost-effective and innovative solutions to enhance operational reliability effectively.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of maintenance experience in a continuous operating (24/7) manufacturing environment, preferably in a cement plant.
  • Previous planning and scheduling experience, budgeting, capital list justification, and project work, specifically the administration of weekly plans and overhaul plans, is a must.
  • Work experience must include troubleshooting, leadership roles for other salaried personnel, and direct hourly supervision experience.
  • Experience in any one of the “in-depth analytical' methods available. RCA, Lean, Kemper Tregoe, or the like
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Proficient in effective written English, verbal communication, and listening skills
  • Excellent collaboration and team-building skills
  • Ability to work overtime, odd and unscheduled hours as required, and share on-call duties
  • Ability to review and analyze equipment data
  • Knowledge of RCA methods to lead the RCA team.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to planning and organizational skills, solid problem-solving skills, initiative, and the ability to make sound decisions based on thoroughly analyzing available data.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.

  • Hands-on knowledge of cement manufacturing processes, equipment, and external and internal resources is a must and major vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Ensures a safe work environment, physically and procedurally, is paramount, and no other situation pre-empts this core value aimed at protecting our teammates and our equipment.
  • Ensures that the team follows safe work practices and complies with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Establishes, modifies, schedules, and enhances written practices focused on developing a preventative/predictive/ selective maintenance system - based on SOPs, work orders/notifications, cost awareness, and scheduling inputs to the planning function.
  • Develops annual Operating budgets for mechanical maintenance, regularly review actual vs. budget performance, analyze variances, and adjust to deliver high reliability in a safe manner within the platform's expected operating budget.
  • Budgets development annually and including cost (parts, services, lube, internal labor) targeted runtime, scheduled maintenance downtime, training CX project development- will develop a 3 to 5-year CX plan, including long lead time critical parts/replacements for all plant mechanical systems
  • Provides guidance to the maintenance personnel to carry out the predictive & preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Provides tactical leadership based on company vision and values, with direct daily involvement in the mechanical department activities /execution, and strategic leadership providing an inclusive safe work environment that enhances individual self esteem and skills development.
  • Defines needed skills, vs actual skills both technically and behaviorally.
  • Maintains a calendarized training program to address the gaps will be created and as required individual development plans
  • Participates in the kiln stops analysis and execution for actionable corrective items. The mechanical manager will provide engineering support for efficient troubleshooting and problem solving activities relating to equipment
  • Maintains and records work notifications and equipment history archives.
  • Processes work orders to be used for scheduling, planning and completion of work used for accumulating equipment specific costs used to accumulate manpower usage by equipment or task
  • The appropriate reporting will be kept up to date , MTBF, MTBS, Pareto analysis equipment runtimes, maintenance activities and employee hours.
  • Develops systems and methods for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates and has meaningful dialogue with operations personnel is a must to identify opportunities to improve operational performance together.
  • Manages staff including participation in the hiring effort, ensures appropriate staffing levels and effective performance evaluations.
  • Pursues equipment reliability improvements through continuous analysis and improvement of maintenance systems and execution, analysis of results
  • Recommends operational/control changes, or changes in equipment design, operation and/or maintenance to achieve desired results.
  • Develops training material and train maintenance personal on specific job training.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
