Job Summary Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance to power station equipment, machines and structures; perform required welding and cutting and be required to use both gas and electric welders.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of maintenance shop type work
  • Ability to weld
  • Ability to read blueprints, P&ID’s, maintenance manuals, technical manuals
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Reading and math knowledge
  • Marked and demonstrated ability to work extremely close mechanical tolerances
  • Thorough knowledge and positive attitude toward company’s safety rules
  • Able to render practical First Aid and CPR
  • Working knowledge of Right to Know information
  • Should possess suitable temperament to be able to perform work where physical dexterity, precision and patience are essential.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Must be forklift certified.

Responsibilities

  • Make general repairs on all plant equipment including, but not limited to: pumps, fans, compressors, pulverizers, gear reducers, buildings and structures.
  • Make repair parts for mechanical equipment, rebabbit small bearings; align and adjust mechanical equipment used at the power station.
  • Responsible for cutting, installing and repairing pipes, valves, traps, and fittings on vacuum, air, water, oil, gas, chemical and steam lines subject to high and low pressures and various temperatures.
  • Rigging equipment for lifting.
  • Fabrication of sheet metal/steel.
  • Install new equipment; overhaul, repair, and rearrange old equipment as required.
  • Operation of mobile equipment to facilitate maintenance repairs and installation of various equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities.
  • May be required to do miscellaneous painting, keep shop equipment and tools clean, orderly and operable.
  • May be required to direct and instruct other employees.
  • May be required to assist plant operations or coal operations.
  • Must report to work fit for duty and free from the effects of drug and alcohol abuse.
