About The Position

We are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our Intermediates team in Geismar, LA. Come create chemistry with us! With more than 600 products in its portfolio, in particular amines, diols, polyalcohols, acids and specialties, the Intermediates division offers innovative solutions for a wide range of industries - from coatings and plastics to pharmaceuticals and crop protection. We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for providing mechanical maintenance engineering expertise to an assigned area of the site. You will also be responsible for collaboration with Production and Maintenance personnel and for providing services related to design review, repair and maintenance, including predictive/preventative maintenance activities. Additionally, you will provide technical support to Root Cause Failure Analyses, troubleshooting of problems, and monitoring PM and PdM programs. Finally, you will also ensure a culture of continuous improvement by employing LEAN Manufacturing tools. As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you create chemistry by... Providing technical guidance and technical support to the Maintenance Supervisor, specialists and craftsmen on difficult equipment repair issues. Providing troubleshooting support and make recommendations to operating units on equipment reliability including emergency work reviews. Participating in Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA's) and execute corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems. Utilizing your background in the optimization of equipment PM activities and strategies, as well as your general knowledge of relief device preventative maintenance activities. You will Establishing, monitoring and optimizing Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) plans. Assisting in the training and development of in-house maintenance resources. Supporting capital projects by supplying engineering expertise in the specification, design and construction of projects in accordance with plant design requirements, BASF standards and regulatory requirements. Providing your understanding of mechanical equipment design and of maintenance and reliability activities associated with process equipment such as centrifugal pumps, piping systems, pressure vessels (including heat exchangers), atmospheric storage tanks, positive displacement pumps, relief devices and compressors of various designs.

Requirements

  • Hold a BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, in addition to 2+ years of experience in petrochemical maintenance and/or reliability.
  • Are experienced in various types of mechanical equipment troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Understand maintenance and reliability processes, knowledge of vibration analysis, and equipment lubrication programs.
  • Are able to communicate effectively and possess strong interpersonal skills.
