About The Position

The Mechanical Lab Technician at U.S. Tsubaki Automotive, LLC is responsible for supporting the Product Engineering Laboratory by conducting dynamic wear and fatigue strength tests on automotive timing chains. This role involves maintaining test equipment, providing examinations of components, and submitting detailed reports based on test results. The technician will also assist in various engineering tasks and ensure the laboratory environment is clean and organized.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (A.A) or equivalent from a two-year college/technical school.
  • 3-5 years of related experience preferred.
  • Proficient in using personal computers (Windows operating system).
  • Experience with mechanics tools including torque wrenches and bearing separators.
  • Knowledge of transducer calibration and engineering units.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to use a digital multi-meter and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Understanding of internal combustion 4-stroke engines.
  • Ability to operate machining tools and assess product condition.
  • Ability to work in a team and use digital photography equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run dynamic tests of automotive timing chains to confirm performance and improve products.
  • Complete all data sheets and follow test procedures.
  • Write reports using the test results.
  • Keep spare parts on hand and maintain test machines.
  • Manage inventory of consumables and spares.
  • Assist with completion of Engineering Work Orders and related tasks as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Ensure the Lab facility is neat, clean, and presentable to internal and external customers.
  • Support Product Engineering staff with miscellaneous assignments, including benchmark activity and prototype preparations.
  • Become familiar with UST products and testing methods.
