About The Position

Provide leadership, planning, and subject matter expertise for the Mechanical Integrity program with a focus on fixed equipment. The incumbent is responsible for directing the Mechanical Integrity Inspectors and ensuring compliance with API, OSHA PSM, and other applicable standards. This includes ownership of inspection planning, execution, and documentation for pressure vessels, piping, tanks, and other fixed equipment to optimize safety, reliability, and cost performance. The role combines program leadership with deep technical expertise, guiding both day-to-day inspection activities and long-term asset lifecycle strategies. The Mechanical Integrity Lead works closely with Reliability, Operations, Projects, Turnaround, and Maintenance to ensure inspection results are translated into sustainable corrective actions that support business continuity and regulatory compliance. The position will act in accordance with the Group's Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform and HSE standards.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Mechanical Integrity, Fixed Equipment Engineering, or related roles within a chemical, refining, or industrial plant environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in inspection planning, corrosion mechanisms, and fitness-for-service evaluations for pressure vessels, piping, tanks, and other fixed equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry codes (OSHA PSM, API, ASME, NBIC).
  • Experience leading inspection teams and managing multi-discipline contractors or service providers.
  • Proven ability to integrate inspection results into reliability and asset lifecycle strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), NDE techniques, and inspection data management systems.
  • Solid track record of supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation.
  • Deep technical knowledge of fixed equipment design, inspection methods, and failure mechanisms.
  • Proficiency with API, ASME, and related codes and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret inspection data and recommend corrective actions.
  • Experience with Mechanical Integrity software and data management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to interface with inspectors, site leadership, and external regulators.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to coach, develop, and guide inspection teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement.
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

  • Advanced knowledge or coursework in materials, corrosion, or pressure vessel design preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach the Mechanical Integrity Inspectors, ensuring consistency and quality in inspection practices.
  • Develop and maintain inspection strategies, schedules, and procedures aligned with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all inspection activities in Mechanical Integrity systems.
  • Ensure PM program is in compliance with OSHA PSM, API, ASME, and other applicable codes and standards.
  • Prepare for and support regulatory audits and third-party inspections.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry codes and best practices for fixed equipment integrity.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in inspection methods, fitness-for-service evaluations, corrosion analysis, and risk-based inspection planning.
  • Support and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for fixed equipment failures.
  • Validate inspection results, interpret data, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
  • Integrate inspection findings into long-term asset strategies to extend equipment life and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Operations, and Maintenance to prioritize and execute repair and replacement plans.
  • Ensure inspection insights are incorporated into capital projects and equipment design reviews.
  • Work jointly with site leadership to ensure fixed equipment integrity is managed as a core element of plant reliability.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and vendors for inspection services, NDE, and specialized assessments.
  • Communicate inspection results, risks, and recommendations clearly to Project and Turnaround groups.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
