About The Position

We are seeking a Mechanical Integration Engineer to join our team supporting space flight and ground support activities. The ideal candidate will provide integration services and engineering support for spacecraft, instruments, and related hardware. Responsibilities include both planned and unplanned tasks, sometimes outside standard working hours, and maintaining clean and organized workspaces. Mechanically integrate space flight components into finished spacecraft or experiments ready for launch. Directs engineering and management for the integration of spacecraft, instruments, space flight hardware, and ground support equipment. Respond promptly to requests from project teams, including after-hours support as needed. Maintain and utilize assigned facilities for integration and handling operations; ensure lab areas are neat and free of excess materials. Leads integration operations in all designated project spaces at GSFC. Coordinate transportation and conduct pre-flight and post-flight operations at the launch site. Deliver mechanical services for space flight, atmospheric flight (balloon and aircraft), and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE), including payload transporters and environmental control systems. Carry out work based on Work Order Authorizations (WOAs), providing technical data such as drawings, specifications, and step-by-step procedures. WOAs are part of the GSFC Quality Management System.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Experience with integration engineering for space flight or ground support hardware.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including responding to urgent requests.
  • Strong organizational skills for maintaining clean workspaces.
  • Familiarity with relevant processes and documentation systems.

  • All applicants must be eligible for work in the United States and able to support NASA GSFC operations in Greenbelt, MD.
