About The Position

Under the direction of the Project Manager, Mechanical Insulators will install and replace insulation materials to pipes, duct work, or other mechanical systems to help control and maintain temperature in buildings.

Requirements

  • 2-5 Years mechanical insulation experience, preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, insurance and/ or reliable transportation
  • Travel as needed for out-of-town work
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of basic tools and their applications
  • Ability and willingness to work long and irregular hours.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of attention to prevent injury to self and others
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and move up to 50lbs regularly
  • Must be able to safely climb and work from heights including ladders, scaffolding, and work from lifts
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for 8+ hours a day, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, twisting, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work at above ground elevations while wearing a harness and other protective equipment
  • Work in and outdoors, will be exposed to heat, cold and humidity

Responsibilities

  • Selects, measures and cuts materials needed for covering pipe and duct surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors
  • Removes old insulation and disposes of it properly
  • Effectively and politely communicates with other trades and customers to accomplish the scope of work assigned
  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements
  • Complies with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area
  • Promote safe workplace by participating in safety training, identifying job hazards, wearing correct PPE, and observing for oneself and others.
  • Completes tasks such as loading, un-loading, cleaning, sweeping, and sometimes painting
  • Conducts physical and accurate count of scaffolding, inventory, fittings, etc.
  • Writes inventory descriptions and quantities removed from warehouse inventory for use on jobs
  • Organizes inventory / equipment in effective manner
  • Other duties as assigned
