JOB SUMMARY: Under direction of the Project Manager, Mechanical Insulators will install and replace insulation materials to pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems to help control and maintain temperature in buildings.

Requirements

  • 2-5 Years mechanical insulation experience, preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, insurance and / or reliable transportation
  • Travel as needed for out of town work
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of basic tools and their applications
  • Ability and willingness to work long and irregular hours
  • Maintain a high degree of attention to prevent injury to self and others
  • Lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Safely climb and work from heights including ladders, scaffolding, and lifts
  • Perform physically demanding work for 8+ hours per day including prolonged standing, walking, bending, twisting, and working in confined spaces
  • Work at above-ground elevations while wearing a harness and protective equipment
  • Work indoors and outdoors exposed to heat, cold, and humidity

Responsibilities

  • Select, measure, and cut materials for covering pipe and duct surfaces using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors
  • Remove old insulation and dispose of it properly
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with other trades and customers to accomplish assigned work
  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements
  • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures including safety requirements and maintaining a clean work area
  • Promote a safe workplace by participating in safety training, identifying hazards, wearing appropriate PPE, and observing safety for self and others
  • Complete tasks such as loading, unloading, cleaning, sweeping, and occasional painting
  • Conduct accurate physical counts of scaffolding, inventory, fittings, and materials
  • Document inventory descriptions and quantities removed from warehouse inventory for job use
  • Organize inventory and equipment effectively
  • Perform other duties as assigned
