About The Position

Techno is looking for an experienced and proactive Mechanical Inspector to support a high-priority infrastructure project based in Brooklyn, NY. This assignment involves the inspection and oversight of mechanical work at a wastewater treatment facility undergoing a significant systems upgrade aimed at enhancing performance, resilience, and sustainability. In this role, you'll be responsible for monitoring the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems—including piping, pumps, HVAC, and process equipment. You'll ensure that all work is executed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes. This is a critical position for someone who brings deep field experience and a sharp eye for detail, ready to contribute to a long-term project that directly impacts essential public infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical inspection projects.
  • OSHA Certifications (up to date) required
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems in pump stations, wastewater treatment plants, or similar water infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply mechanical blueprints and project documentation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with contractors, engineers, and project managers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain thorough and accurate records.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple inspection sites as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • ACI Certification (Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I or higher) preferred.
  • Experience with the NYCDDC or NYCDEP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all mechanical systems are installed according to project specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Review project drawings, technical documents, and material submittals to confirm compliance with engineering and mechanical standards.
  • Conduct field inspections, ensuring that all mechanical work is performed in compliance with contract requirements, industry standards, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor installation and testing of mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, and valves, ensuring functionality and performance.
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project managers to address any technical issues or discrepancies in mechanical installations.
  • Document and report inspection findings to the project team, tracking issues and resolutions in daily reports.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations, monitoring mechanical work sites to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving mechanical system commissioning and start-up procedures.
