About The Position

Techno is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to support an active public infrastructure program spanning multiple sites throughout Brooklyn, New York. This role supports mechanical work at facilities undergoing major upgrades to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and long-term performance. As a Mechanical Inspector, you will be consistently in the field, providing oversight of mechanical installations and supporting quality and safety compliance across several locations. This position is well suited for someone with strong hands-on experience who is comfortable working in operational environments and coordinating with multiple project teams.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience performing mechanical inspections on construction or infrastructure projects
  • Current OSHA safety certifications required
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I or higher certification preferred
  • Experience inspecting mechanical systems within pump stations, wastewater treatment facilities, or similar utility infrastructure
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with field and office teams
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail in reporting and documentation
  • Willingness and ability to travel between multiple project locations within Brooklyn

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting projects for NYC agencies such as NYCDEP or NYCDDC is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections of mechanical installations to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes
  • Observe and document installation, testing, and functional verification of mechanical systems such as pumps, piping, valves, motors, and HVAC components
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and submittals to confirm conformance with project requirements
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and construction management staff to address installation issues or discrepancies
  • Track inspection findings, corrective actions, and resolutions through daily reports and field documentation
  • Monitor work areas to ensure compliance with safety requirements and approved work practices
  • Support mechanical system testing, start-up, and commissioning activities as required
  • Assist with punch list development and verification of completed mechanical work
  • Travel between project sites as needed to support inspection coverage
