About The Position

The Mechanical Shop & HVAC Engineer is responsible for administering repairs and improvements to an already great property. Attention to detail and the ability to contribute to a diverse team will ensure the functionality of our resort and the safety and satisfaction of every guest.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school
  • At least three (3) years HVAC/mechanical experience for a large, luxury resort
  • Strong knowledge and experience in troubleshooting & repair, as well as building automation systems and auxiliary equipment
  • Universal EPA Certification
  • Must have knowledge of Refrigeration Systems: low, medium, high temperature, central, and remote systems
  • Must have knowledge of electrical
  • Must have experience working with steam
  • Commercial HVAC/mechanical engineering experience
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical and HVAC procedures, trends, safety, maintenance, systems, and equipment
  • Beginner skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • General knowledge of all construction phases and local building and safety codes
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents including blueprints
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from Team Members and/or guests
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with guests, management, Team Members, and other outside contacts
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills; be able to function under time constraints and deadlines with attention to detail
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends
  • Work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment
  • Member must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Member is regularly required to stand and use hands and fingers to handle or utilize objects, tools, or controls. The Member frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision.
  • The Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for total property mechanical and HVAC maintenance
  • Perform routine inspections of mechanical and HVAC systems
  • Keep casino/hotel mechanical and HVAC operations at optimum effectiveness and efficiency in accordance with accepted engineering practices, procedures, policies, and applicable codes
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, accepted practices of the trade, and safety protocols
  • Ensure that tools and instruments used for repairs of the HVAC equipment are in good working order or even sent out for testing if required
  • Maintain inventories of repair parts and consumable supplies to support building, grounds, physical plant, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize cash flow
  • Maintain accurate logs and records
  • Ensure that OSHA requirements are followed for the safety of oneself, and while working around other Team Members and guests using public areas
  • Ensure to maintain MSDS sheets for any liquids, chemicals, or powder products use in the HVAC & R department
  • Have knowledge of all department’s mechanical and HVAC systems and be able to act as a technical liaison
  • Keep departments informed of projects in their areas
  • Keep current on other department activities/needs
  • Identify and solve mechanical and HVAC problems within existing time constraints
  • Keep up to date on state-of-the-art mechanical and HVAC technology
  • Provide a current Nevada Motor Vehicle Report to the department leader and Risk Management every 6 months
  • Temporary or permanent duties and responsibilities may be added to or modified as deemed necessary
