About The Position

The Mechanical Handling Lead at Bechtel Corporation will be responsible for overseeing the design and execution of mechanical handling systems for the Hanford Vit Plant project. This role involves managing work processes, ensuring technical adequacy, and coordinating with various engineering disciplines to develop design and procurement documents. The position requires a strong background in mechanical handling design, particularly in nuclear safety requirements, and offers part-time telework flexibility with a focus on collaboration and communication within the team.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited university or college with 8+ years of related experience (Level 1).
  • BS degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited university or college with 10+ years of related experience (Level 2).
  • Experience in MHD, MFD, MSD, Material Requisitions, Specification, calculations, and datasheets for Mechanical equipment on powerplants, refineries, or chemical/nuclear process facilities.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
  • Knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft office suite of products.
  • Familiar with regulations and industry codes and standards affecting complex engineering work within discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with effort required to prepare standard discipline deliverables.
  • Knowledge of how to prepare standard engineering budgets and schedules within discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Manage discipline work process execution and assure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
  • Provide direction to discipline work group consistent with project/program.
  • Develop and revise Mechanical Handling design documents and Procurement Documents.
  • Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
  • Support discipline design reviews to verify that requirements and expectations for design products are met.
  • Support the PEM/PE/EGS on interfaces with DOE, DNFSB, WDOH, and Ecology.
  • Complete assigned engineering tasks within budget/schedule and support identification and development of engineering trends and BCPs in discipline area.
  • Support and implement the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture in day-to-day work activities.
