About The Position

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future with humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one without. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. As the Starship launch cadence ramps up, we are in need of multiple high-rise facilities to support new vehicle builds and reflight refurbishment across various sites. We are currently seeking mechanical engineers to serve as highrise specialists supporting the rapid development and build of Starship's next generation vertical integration facilities. These facilities will ultimately enable the path to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of professional experience with the design or build of MEP building systems

Nice To Haves

  • 3-4 years of professional experience in civil/mechanical engineering
  • Primary experience with electrical and power distribution systems

Responsibilities

  • Lead the project team, consulting engineers and contractors throughout the entirety of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning process
  • Own mechanical engineering work packages for the production site design and development, with a heavy focus on integrated high rise facilities
  • Design elements of multidisciplinary, multistory projects for new construction and modifications to existing structures
  • Create design drawings, calculations, and design summary presentations
  • Estimate material quantities, schedules, and costs for construction projects
  • Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines
  • Perform project control tasks, including project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
  • Manage multi-discipline design and construction projects, including coordination of typical systems found in high rise buildings (MEP, HVAC, etc)
  • Interact with other engineers, contractors, fabricators, and various stakeholders
  • Provide direct onsite field observations and resolve field conflicts in real time
  • Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to the original plans and specifications
  • Maintain the construction schedule, identify and solve problems
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the SpaceX end user, contractors, suppliers, and other SpaceX employees
  • Engage with new vendors to shore up our pool of contractors that have the ability to execute high rise projects
  • Prepare schedules and supervise completion of the final punch list
  • Promote job site safety as a top priority, encourage safe work practices and rectify job site hazards immediately
  • Ensure all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy
  • Interact with tradesman, contractors, and building officials to coordinate and execute maintenance repair and installation of facilities support equipment
  • Communicate updates to budgetary, drawings, and design requirements to management and engineering
