About The Position

Hopkins | Lacy, the mechanical, electrical, plumbing division of Branch Group is searching for a skilled Mechanical Estimator. The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for providing take-offs using sound estimating procedures, maintaining bid deadlines, following note project risk assessment, applying labor factors and price materials, and performing value engineering in preparation for contract negotiations. Duties/Responsibilities Perform the activities of the Estimating Department to insure accurate costs and competitive bids  Assist project leadership by investigating market potential and opportunities with a view to implementing established services and recommending additional opportunities  Research and develop new methods for improving how we put together cost estimates  Provide assistance to other Divisions to maximize company opportunities  Expand and maintain data base entries for labor and materials  Duties/Responsibilities Cont.Qualifications Extensive knowledge of Mechanical construction markets and estimating procedures  Computer literacy with flexibility for cont. computer education  Good customer service/negotiating skills  A technical degree/some estimating experience OR an equivalent amount of journeyman level estimating experience in the electrical construction industry  2 years of hard-bid or design/build estimating experience  Prior success experience with a Mechanical contractor  CompetenciesBudgets/Cost ControlActing DecisivelyTechnical SkillsDelivering High Quality WorkWorking with Financial InformationTravelTravel is frequently required to and from job sites, and occasionally to the office location. Supervisory ResponsibilityThe estimator will occasionally give direction to the estimating technicians.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requirements
