About The Position

Whisper Aero is looking for an experienced engineering technician to join our team onsite in Nashville, TN. The technician will be focused on assembling prototype engine assemblies, building and operating ground testing equipment, and overseeing rapid prototyping equipment. They will have a solid track record with aerospace system hardware and instrumentation and proficiency troubleshooting and developing creative solutions.

Requirements

  • Requires an associates degree or technical degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience as an electronics, test, or assembly technician. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Expert skill with general hand tools, precision measurement tools, and electronics fabrication.
  • Demonstrated experience operating a manual mill and a manual lathe.
  • Experience with FDM 3D printing and printer operation.
  • Experience building high performance assemblies such as engines.
  • Familiarity with using test equipment (multimeters, accelerometers, pressure sensors).
  • Respect for both the safety of yourself and others, experience and awareness of high voltage electrical systems and electromechanical spinning machinery, and the ability to work safely in a lab test environment.

  • Experience balancing rotating machinery
  • Experience in R&D space
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks other similar CAD program.
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and/or Python basic data analysis.
  • Proficiency with Arduino or Raspberry Pi programming.
  • Experience working with composites.
  • Experience with mold making or model making

Responsibilities

  • Assemble prototype aerospace products and develop assembly instructions.
  • Manage, maintain, and operate 3D printers and rapid prototyping equipment.
  • Assist in the setup of test stations and conduct tests with data acquisition.
  • Develop and implement wiring layouts for ground tests and vehicle systems.
  • Operate basic metal machining tools
