About The Position

The position involves building, repairing, and preparing articles for testing and associated auxiliary equipment. The individual will install test articles into various test structures such as test cells, tables, and rigs, and perform tests according to established methods. The role requires a consistent provision of accurate and reliable test results, along with an in-depth understanding of the test equipment and its contribution to the validity of the results. Responsibilities also include configuring and operating data acquisition systems, analyzing data, and maintaining laboratory equipment. The position supports engineering with equipment evaluations and updates, and may involve additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of test equipment and methodologies.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and data analysis.
  • Ability to perform engine and component builds, tear downs, and inspections.
  • Familiarity with common tools such as Calterm, Asset, Cyflex, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose issues.
  • Ability to create and interpret technical sketches and drawings.
  • Experience in writing test plans and preparing reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in training apprentices and technicians.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance procedures.
  • Experience in leading improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing in accordance with established test procedures and methodology.
  • Consistently provide accurate and reliable test results.
  • Understand the function of the test equipment and its contribution to the validity of test results.
  • Configure and operate data acquisition systems; analyze and review data for appropriateness.
  • Understand the functioning of the product under test to assess its contribution to the validity of test results.
  • Perform test stand installation, troubleshooting, setups, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Provide support and recommendations to engineering for equipment supplier evaluation and qualification.
  • Conduct performance and reliability testing on engines, components, systems, and controls.
  • Diagnose engine and test cell problems and initiate appropriate resolutions.
  • Write computer programs to assist in analysis and data interpretation.
  • Create sketches for machining and fabricate necessary piping, tubing, and brackets.
  • Install engines and instrumentation in test cells and rigs.
  • Design, document, and execute test plans; prepare test reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Work with and train apprentices and technicians.
  • Coordinate programs including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking.
  • Participate in the maintenance of quality procedures.
  • Lead and participate in improvement projects.
  • Develop and give presentations to customers and suppliers.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in self- and team-audits and associated corrective actions.
