Under limited supervision, assists mechanical engineers in the planning and testing of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.Tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions. Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Reviews project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan fabrication requirements, as well as assembly and testing requirements. Record test procedures and results using numerical and graphical data. Helps prepare proposals and cost estimates. Assists in establishing work load completion dates.

Requirements

• Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A two year degree or equivalent is preferred.
• Requires at least 5 years related experience.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Expert knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
