The Mechanical Engineering Specialist, Senior will provide engineering review, coordination, and oversight for operations, maintenance, repair, and construction work. This role involves overseeing and coordinating activities with trade shops, prioritizing work, reviewing ongoing projects, inspecting installed equipment, and managing work orders, service orders, and projects. The specialist will plan, conduct, and direct projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of engineers and technical support staff. Responsibilities include managing project design or construction efforts, including scheduling, funding, and day-to-day project oversight, as well as evaluating construction contractor performance and integrating projects with field personnel. The specialist will assist the client's contracting officer (CO) and contracting officer's technical representative (COTR) with acquisition planning, execution, and administration, including conducting pre-bid and pre-construction site visits. The role also requires providing invoice supporting information for payment, preparing and monitoring project schedules, assisting with budgets, and providing technical guidance on contracting and construction issues. The specialist will ensure project objectives are achieved on schedule and at the lowest cost compatible with user requirements, while also ensuring timely input of all data into the MAXIMO software project management tool and the integration of all systems, including IT, telephone, security, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.

  • Ensure integration of all systems, including IT, telephone, security, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.
  • 5+ years of experience as a facilities professional.
  • 2+ years of experience in an assigned field, including high voltage power, mechanical systems, fire protection, or construction.
  • Experience with the implementation or execution of design documents.
  • Experience reviewing design documentation and identifying deficiencies, inaccuracies, and noncompliance issues.
  • Ability to evaluate conditions and draft engineering memos providing sound engineering guidance.
  • Ability to review and perform engineering calculations.
  • TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • HS diploma or GED.
  • Experience managing project design or construction efforts, including scheduling and funding.
  • Experience with MAXIMO.
  • Experience with new and existing building systems, site surveys, and calculations.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, International Building Code, and NFPA publications related to mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of CAD systems, AutoCAD, or Revit.
