Program Overview The Watlow Mechanical Engineering Rotational Program is a hands-on, immersive early career experience designed to accelerate the development of future engineering leaders. Participants rotate through three Watlow locations, spending approximately two months at each site, gaining exposure to diverse teams, technologies, and manufacturing environments. The final rotation is based in San Jose, California, where participants join a team of approximately 120 engineers focused on new product development. This role is highly hands-on and customer-driven, offering real-world engineering experience beyond the classroom. This is not a desk job—engineers are actively engaged in prototyping, testing, and building next-generation thermal systems in fast-paced environments.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Graduation date by May 2026
  • Ability to begin the program in June 2026
  • Willingness to work onsite five days a week at each assigned rotation location

Responsibilities

  • Prototype integrated thermal systems, such as tubular heaters mounted to metal assemblies
  • Work in fast-paced, customer-driven environments with evolving priorities
  • Gain hands-on experience in machine shops and lab settings
  • Run product tests to validate performance, reliability, and design intent
  • Support the development of next-generation thermal solutions
  • Adapt quickly to changing project scopes and responsibilities
  • Solve real-world engineering problems through physical builds and experimentation
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional partners
  • Strengthen in-person collaboration skills by working onsite five days a week
