About The Position

This Mechanical Engineering Project Manager position manages, directs and leads the activities of architects, engineers, contractors and suppliers in the delivery of construction projects. This position is responsible for a broad range of HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) and plumbing engineering project management functions on capital improvement projects authorized by the State of Wisconsin Building Commission. The projects this position supports include all projects that have HVAC systems and plumbing systems work as part of the scope. The primary responsibilities of this engineering position include managing complex infrastructure and facilities projects from design through construction, the review and analysis of designs prepared by outside consultants, providing technical support to state agencies, providing site inspections, and troubleshooting analysis, developing and maintaining design guidelines and specifications, and developing design and bidding documents. The position is a member of the Mechanical Team and will participate in the team's assignments and provide other services to the Division and other state agencies as directed. Requirements

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer and/or Architect as determined by the Department of Safety and Professional Services
  • Have graduated from a recognized college or university with a degree in an engineering field such as civil, electrical, electronic, environmental, mechanical, or structural engineering
  • Project management for design or construction of building HVAC systems. (e.g. management of budget, scope, and schedule of projects, or similar)
  • Mechanical (HVAC) engineering design and analysis for government or higher education or institutional facilities. (e.g. design and evaluation of HVAC systems, or similar)
  • Providing HVAC engineering technical assistance and facility evaluation
