About The Position

Manufacturing Test Infrastructure (MTI) is looking for an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team. As an intern in MTI, you will be part of a world-class design team that develops automated test systems used in SEL production facilities. Please note that this is a year-round position with the expectation of full-time work through the summer and a flexible part-time work schedule during the school year.

Requirements

• Currently in pursuit of BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with one to two years engineering education completed
• Ability to conduct defined testing procedures
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of MS Office Applications or equivalent
• One year SolidWorks Experience (or equivalent CAD software)
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
• Background check results satisfactory to SEL
• Negative drug test result(s)

Nice To Haves

• Experience filing engineering documentation
• Finite element analysis experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide support to mechanical engineering staff as needed: Functional/qualification test plans, testing, and test reports
• Conduct tolerance, return on investment (ROI), thermal, and structural analysis
• Design of plastic, machined, sheet metal, and die cast parts
• Update SolidWorks models and drawings
• Data entry of technical information into company databases (MS Access, Lotus Notes, SolidWorks)
• Follow mechanical development and quality assurance procedures
• Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles
• Understand. Create. Simplify.
• Other duties as assigned
