About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will support our customers, project managers, and sales staff by assisting with technical support, arranging drawings, creating fabrication drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and developing 3D models. You will help evaluate applications of equipment, assist with sizing equipment, ductwork, and piping, support project estimation, and troubleshoot mechanical equipment issues at customer facilities.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) or related field, or equivalent academic experience.
  • Strong curiosity, drive, and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
  • Desire to provide high-quality customer service.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong computer literacy, especially with engineering design software.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology and processes.
  • Must be able to lift 25-30 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to sit for long periods and operate business equipment.
  • Must be able to read, write, and perform calculations accurately.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship experience in mechanical engineering or related field is a plus, with exposure to 2D and 3D drafting software, piping systems, and related technologies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supporting design-build projects at all company locations, from project definition to 3D model creation, General Arrangements, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, and project hand-offs to project management.
  • Provide support for the development and management of engineering documentation standards.
  • Learn to be a technical advisor for mechanical systems, reviewing code publications and performing basic calculations.
  • Support sales and project teams, including occasional travel with overnight stays.
  • Assist with analysis of project pictures, drawings, specifications, and client requirements to prepare solutions and project estimates.
  • Help develop solutions and participate in the presentation of proposals to customers.
  • Communicate with various departments to foster internal and customer relationships.
  • Support project engineering documentation, including drawings, submittals, P&IDs, General Arrangements, and close-out documentation.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with company standards for quality, cost, safety, timeliness, and performance.
  • Support customer site inspections and identify solutions for their mechanical needs, including boiler room equipment, HVACR, chillers, and ductwork.
  • Work with project management to assist in determining manpower and material requirements.
  • Help solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to meet project needs and follow-up after project completion.
  • Gain exposure to customer relations and learn how to resolve concerns and exceed expectations.
  • Assist in maintaining industry expertise through self-study, training, and seminars.
  • Occasionally provide support for sales and marketing efforts at trade shows, seminars, and events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
