About The Position

Summer engineering intern position to support the manufacturing and engineering of world-class, high-precision optical systems. This is a dynamic position for an individual to work as part of Corning Advanced Optics' mechanical design team. Focus will be to work on new designs for precision optical assemblies, optimizing fabrication and metrology methods in optical, mechanical, and assembly departments. Responsibilities include mechanical design/engineering, new product introduction, process development / process control, design of experiments, modeling / analysis support of opto-mechanical systems.

Requirements

Pursuing a degree in a STEM, including optics, imaging science, and physics.
Coursework in Mechanical, Optical, Manufacturing, or Engineering Science.
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Working knowledge of engineering tools such as Creo, Solidworks, MATLAB, or Visual Basic programming in Excel.
Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
Be willing to work at the posted job location

Nice To Haves

Experience with optical design software (e.g. CODE V, Zemax, LightTools, etc.).
Coursework in physical optics
