About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will support the design, analysis, and development of aerospace components and systems that integrate mechanical design with controls and software. This internship provides hands-on experience in CAD modeling, system modeling, control system fundamentals, and Python-based analysis tools while working alongside experienced engineers to develop mission-ready hardware. We’re looking for a motivated engineer who is eager to learn in a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environment—someone excited to contribute to real aerospace projects while building strong technical foundations. If you enjoy turning ideas into working hardware and learning across mechanical and software domains, this internship is for you.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Person (Defined as: a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or an individual who has been granted asylum or refugee status, in accordance with U.S. export control regulations such as ITAR and EAR)
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or a related engineering field
  • Available to work in-person (commuting required)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
  • Foundational knowledge of mechanics, dynamics, and control systems
  • Basic programming experience in Python (object-oriented concepts a plus)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and ability to work in team environments
  • Eagerness to learn and take initiative

Nice To Haves

  • Academic or personal projects in aerospace, robotics, or mechatronics
  • Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink or similar modeling tools
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, machining, or lab testing
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability concepts
  • Understanding of GD&T principles (coursework acceptable)
  • Experience with metal manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, forming, or sheet cutting
  • (Bonus) Exposure to electroplating processes

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks.
  • Support modeling and analysis of dynamic systems and basic control systems.
  • Contribute to Python-based tools for simulation, data analysis, and test automation.
  • Help create engineering drawings, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into iterative improvements.
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to integrate subsystems.
