KCI is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our MEP team for Summer 2026. This internship offers hands-on exposure to HVAC and plumbing consulting, including assessments, design support, and commissioning-related activities. The intern will work closely with experienced engineers and gain real-world experience on active projects. Summer interns will work a 40-hour week, with at least 10 weeks of work required during the period from mid-May to the end of August. Interns will be assigned a dedicated supervisor and mentor, are required to attend planned activities, and must submit mid-summer and end-of-summer reports/presentations.

Requirements

  • This is an entry level position where no previous experience is required.
  • Currently enrolled in an ABET-Accredited College Engineering Program
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.

  • 3.0 GPA or higher

Responsibilities

  • Assist with HVAC and plumbing design tasks under the guidance of supervising engineers, including ventilation and heating/cooling load calculations.
  • Support ductwork and HVAC piping layout and sizing.
  • Help develop equipment schedules and assist with coordination with equipment manufacturers’ representatives.
  • Assist in preparing equipment layouts, ductwork, and piping floor plans, sections, and 3D views using Revit.
  • Provide support on commissioning-related tasks and field activities as learning opportunities arise.
  • Participate in project meetings and conference calls related to assigned tasks.
