About The Position

Mercury Systems is seeking a motivated and innovative Mechanical Engineering Intern eager to learn, contribute, and bring fresh ideas to complex design challenges. In this hands-on role, you’ll support the design and integration of electronic modules, subsystems, and rugged server assemblies from concept through production.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • A minimum GPA of 3.1 is required. You will be asked to submit your transcripts during the review process
  • Basic understanding of heat transfer and thermal management principles
  • Familiarity with conventional and advanced manufacturing methods, including additive manufacturing
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with standard documentation and presentation tools
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
  • This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronics hardware assembly
  • Familiarity with GD&T and technical drawings
  • Experience using SolidWorks PDM tools

Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical design efforts for electronic modules, subsystems, and rack-mounted server hardware
  • Assist with mechanical packaging design, printed wiring board layout, connector selection, cable and label design, prototype inspection and assembly as well as ECAD support
  • Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams including Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement
  • Participate in the full product lifecycle; from concept development through integration, testing, and production release
  • Create and maintain 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWork
  • Contribute to documentation required for procurement, assembly, verification, and validation
  • Support environmental testing, inspection reports, and test plan development
  • Help structure Bills of Material (BOMs) and support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs/ECOs)
  • Assist with procuring prototype materials to validate form, fit, and function
  • Communicate design concepts and technical documentation to both internal and external stakeholders
