The Collins Aerospace Strategic Defense Solutions group is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer intern to join our team onsite in Richardson, TX! . Our Mechanical Engineering intern participate in the design, development, and test of electronic equipment and integration kits for communication systems on military aircraft and transportable platforms. You will learn to work closely with fellow Mechanical Engineers as well as Systems, Electrical, and Manufacturing Engineering staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a product’s lifecycle. What You Will Do: You will, with technical supervision, apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems. You will work with engineers and designers to produce models for components, parts, subassemblies, and assemblies. You will, with technical oversight, execute tests for systems, subsystems, and components. Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives. You will communicate effectively in a cross-functional team. What You Will Learn: You will learn collaboration in a multi-disciplinary team to create successful designs. You will learn how to follow appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs. You will learn documentation of development, analysis, and test data. Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Solidworks or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Familiarity with ANSYS or other mechanical analysis software.
