About The Position

WaterFleet is a dynamic company revolutionizing the mobile potable and wastewater management industry through pioneering technology and exceptional talent. The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support the engineering team in the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems and components. This role provides hands-on experience in real-world engineering projects, with exposure to design, drafting, testing, and field coordination. The position will also act as a liaison between the Equipment Suppliers and the Engineering Department. This is a temporary, non-exempt position located at the Corporate Office in San Antonio, TX, with typical hours Monday – Friday, and possible weekends. No supervisory responsibility or travel is required.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Valid US driver’s license and strong driving safety record (no more than 2 moving violations in previous 3 years).
  • Acceptable background check, clear of DWI convictions, for the last 5 years.
  • Foster teamwork and collaboration within and between department(s)

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of engineering principles (thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mechanics of materials)
  • Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Previous internship or project experience in mechanical design or construction
  • Exposure to HVAC, piping systems, or industrial equipment (if relevant to your business)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems and components
  • Prepare and revise engineering drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Support project documentation, including calculations, specifications, and reports
  • Conduct basic engineering calculations and analysis under supervision
  • Participate in design reviews and team meetings
  • Assist with material selection, equipment sizing, and system layout
  • Support field activities such as site visits, inspections, and data collection (if applicable)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, civil, and project management
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation
  • Assist project oversight in coordination with WaterFleet operations and installation groups.
  • Assist in determining best technology/design upgrades for WaterFleet’s mobile water and wastewater system fleet and services.
  • Review and respond to drawings, submittals, requests for clarification, and other related correspondence.
  • Assist with sizing, flow process, and auxiliary equipment needs for new system designs.
  • Assist in regulatory engagement as necessary for permit applications and approvals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
