About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Intern is a student with sophomore standing or higher in Mechanical Engineering. This individual is responsible for assisting project team engineers in various engineering duties, including but not limited to: technology researching, conceptual product development under the guidance of a project engineer, generating and editing CAD models and drawings, competitive product testing, material testing/evaluation within a product, and other duties as assigned appropriate to the individual's level of education and experience.

Requirements

  • Sophomore standing or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of CAD modeling skills (3D: SOLIDWORKS).
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing fabrication processes.
  • Knowledge of FEA and DFM.
  • Understanding of design of machine elements.
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments and Six Sigma.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project team engineers in various engineering duties.
  • Conduct technology research.
  • Support conceptual product development under the guidance of a project engineer.
  • Generate and edit CAD models and drawings.
  • Conduct competitive product testing.
  • Perform material testing and evaluation within a product.
  • Support the manufacturing process for injection molding, gear design, machining, sheet metal, and assembly.
  • Conduct and evaluate experiments with the support of a Mechanical Engineer.
  • Work with R&D engineers to meet project goals and objectives.
  • Plan and organize own activities according to priorities set under the guidance of an engineer or manager.
  • Research new technologies and conduct appropriate testing.
  • Evaluate and test competitive products and provide meaningful reports.
