About The Position

The Bradbury Internship Program for the Mechanical Engineering Department has opportunities for individuals to work in various engineering and technical disciplines. As an intern, you will perform engineering department duties involving the use of computer-aided devices and design software to create new, modified, and/or improved designs of mechanical systems. This will be done using established engineering practices with the guidance and mentorship of experienced engineers, allowing you to develop and hone your engineering skills in a learning environment. The internship must consist of no less than two months.

Requirements

  • Ability to comprehend and apply advanced mathematics
  • Able to respond to instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Basic shop knowledge - manufacturing processes

Nice To Haves

  • Currently working towards a B.S. in ME, MET, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Analyze product and equipment specifications and performance requirements to develop mechanical designs and drafting that can be produced by existing manufacturing methods
  • Complete designs on time and within the estimated hours per the current engineering schedule and within corporate and engineering department guidelines
  • Design with due regard to safety, economy, and ease of fabrication and operation
  • Confer with engineering personnel and other department employees to clarify or resolve problems
  • Provide necessary drawing maintenance as required to maintain good quality engineering prints
  • Perform other duties as assigned
