The Detroit office of SmithGroup is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team.

Requirements

  • Completed at least their sophomore year or have graduate standing in an accredited mechanical or architectural engineering program by the time of the internship.
  • Some experience with Revit, Trane Trace and/or IESVE, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Work on integrated architecture and engineering project design teams.
  • Assist in the design of HVAC, plumbing and/or fire protection systems in Revit 3D modeling software.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations using Trane Trace and/or IESVE.
  • Calculate pressure drop and static pressure for air and hydronic systems.
  • Participate in design meetings.
  • Receive mentorship from experienced engineers.
  • Visit a construction site(s) and/or completed project sites.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate of $24.00 to $25.00 per hour.
  • Eligibility to receive overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 in a work week.
