About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Motorola Solutions, you will contribute to the mechanical design and development of portable and mobile two-way communication products, as well as improve designs of current generation radio products. You will utilize best-in-class tools to develop innovative solutions to design challenges, identify design issues, and determine design direction. Your responsibilities will include generating and maintaining a mechanical engineering schedule for your tasks, implementing changes to enhance design or meet functional specifications, and monitoring cost goals. You will also perform stress and tolerance analyses on new or existing designs, design and conduct experiments, and interface with program team members, suppliers, and customers.

Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Must graduate on or after December 2026.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in product development preferred.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes such as injection molding, sheet metal, and castings.
  • Knowledge of design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Working knowledge of worst-case and statistical tolerance analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with functional dimensioning and geometric tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis theory and general mechanical engineering analysis.
  • Analytical/problem solving skills and data acquisition skills.
  • Ability to use statistical tools and techniques.
  • Basic computer skills, Pro/Engineer preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and ability to operate within a team environment.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to create/read/interpret engineering drawings.
  • Negotiation skills and presentation skills.
