About The Position

In the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam's etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry. Join Lam as a mechanical engineering intern and you'll be at the forefront, designing and developing solutions for advanced applications. Your role involves designing and analyzing equipment, conducting experimental tests, evaluating results to create reliable cutting-edge solutions. In this role, you will directly contribute to Lam’s ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) hardware engineering. Intern will work directly with experienced engineers gaining a better understanding of Lam deposition products and during their internship will be an integral member of the ALD HW Engineering Group. Internship will be focused on learning Lam product designs (Semiconductor Deposition products) and contributing to the overall improvement of performance and reliability through innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Must be an Undergraduate Student (Bachelors, BSME) or Graduate Student (Masters, MSME) in Mechanical Engineering working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have a broad base knowledge of mechanical engineering knowledge and a strong fundamental understanding of the scientific principles.
  • Proficient in part design of electro-mechanical components/assemblies and familiar with component manufacturing methods (sheetmetal forming, machined, welding/brazing, etc.)
  • Must have a broad base knowledge of mechanical engineering knowledge and a strong fundamental understanding of the scientific principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in part design of electro-mechanical components/assemblies and familiar with component manufacturing methods (sheetmetal forming, machined, welding/brazing, etc.)
  • Proficient in 3D Modeling, Assembly and Detailing in any CAD packages & ability to learn other CAD application such as Creo/PRO
  • Experienced in leading small and medium scale projects and providing progress reports.
  • Proficient in MS PowerPoint to adequately convey project status, engineering approach, and testing results in design reviews and cross-functional level review meetings
  • Fluent in English language with strong writing and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems, sub-systems, and/or solutions, applying engineering methods to design.
  • Prepare high-quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, analysis, and results to diverse audiences in design reviews.
  • Design, develop and implement cost-effective solutions for small to medium scale projects.
  • Review and recommend corrective solutions for Problem Reports of varying complexities.
  • Identify an internship main project and conclude internship with a presentation on this project which should include knowledge gained, lessons learned, conclusions and follow-on recommendations.
