NAR Simulation is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2025. Our mission is to develop and produce realistic training tools for military and emergency medical clients. The intern will participate as a team member within the Simulations department, helping to facilitate smooth processes among team members. This position requires a commitment to the agreed-upon work schedule, which will be flexible relative to the intern's class schedule.

  • Assist in 3-D modeling and design of mechanical parts and small subsystems under guidance from senior engineering staff.
  • Create detailed 2-D drawings of parts and sub-assemblies.
  • Utilize basic hand tools for building and modifying prototypes while adhering to shop safety protocols.
  • Engage with additive manufacturing methods and learn about 3D printing.
  • Provide design support to the engineering team.
  • Junior level status towards a BS in an ABET accredited Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, e-mail).
  • Knowledge of at least one CAD package (AutoCAD, Solidworks, NX, Pro-E, Creo, or CATIA).
  • Understanding of fundamental Mechanical Engineering principles.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 15 hours, but not exceeding 40 hours, each week.
  • Familiarity with GD&T.
  • Prior work experience in a related field.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing methods.
  • Flexible work schedule relative to class schedule.
  • Hands-on experience in a professional engineering environment.
