About The Position

Valmont is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the Global Solar team. This internship offers a hands-on learning experience where the intern will contribute to the design team's goals while gaining exposure to various business areas and learning from experienced engineers. The position is set to start in summer 2025, with full-time hours during the summer and potential part-time work during the fall and spring semesters.

Requirements

• Enrolled in an accredited university and actively pursuing a degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
• Junior or senior standing with an anticipated graduation in the next 18 months.
• CAD skills including design applications and an ability to convert drawings to 3D models (Solidworks preferred).
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing new processes and systems for managing product data and bills of materials.
• Work with multiple teams inside the organization to gather data and manage project timelines.
• Develop 3D models and product documentation of solar tracking systems, including installation manuals and bills of materials.
• Actively participate and recommend changes in design criteria, analysis methods, drafting procedures, and developing new methods and procedures.
• Recommend tests to confirm theoretical designs when necessary and plan and coordinate the testing.
• Gain and subsequently apply design knowledge when considering the manufacturability of the final design.
